Moustafa Abdelsamad D.B.A.
Dean, College of Business
Welcome to our site. This is an exciting time for college of business. The demand for business graduates is at its peak. The free enterprise way of doing business is thriving. Change is accelerated and survival and growth are assured only to those who are agile, innovative, and constantly learning new skills and unlearning obsolete ones. Technological advances globally aid the changing business environment. They provide great opportunities for some and certain decline for those who cannot keep up or fail to adjust.
The College of Business here at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi focuses its efforts on quality business education consistent with the mission of the University. We are engaged in a program of continuous improvement in all aspects of our operations to serve our constituents in the region and beyond.
In the pursuit of quality, we have worked for and obtained accreditation of our undergraduate and graduate business programs by AACSB-The International Association for Management Education. We are very proud of this achievement since fewer than one-third of the business programs in the United States and internationally are accredited by AACSB. Our graduates should be proud to know that their degrees have increased in value and recognition by our peers and potential employers.
I feel that AACSB accreditation is only the beginning. We use all means possible through a comprehensive assessment program and input from inside and outside the College to continue to improve our performance. We have high expectations from our students and faculty. Doing the minimum to "get by" is never enough. Our faculty represents the cornerstone and key to our success. We work hard to identify and select faculty members who have strong academic credentials, excellent teaching, and real concern for student learning. We encourage our faculty to continue their development, and we support their efforts to be innovative and make use of technology to be more productive. Their applied research and services benefit the profession and the surrounding community. We supplement our full-time faculty by a small number of highly qualified adjunct faculty members.
Our undergraduate and graduate student advisory councils, along with exit interview surveys of graduating seniors and graduating master students, provide us with input to continue our focus on student learning. The results indicate a high degree of satisfaction and confirm the faculty's availability to help students. National tests administered to graduating seniors provide us with a measure of how our students fare nationally on their business knowledge and critical thinking skills. Our student organizations, which include the Society for Advancement of Management, Society for Human Resource Management, Student Accounting Society, Delta Sigma Pi, and Beta Gamma Sigma, allow our students to sharpen their leadership skills and practice management in a risk-free environment.

The College of Business is fortunate to house the international office of the Society for Advancement of Management (SAM), the oldest professional management association in the world (established in 1912). SAM is the publisher of SAM Advanced Management Journal that received the 2000 ANBAR award in readability among general management journals. The mutually beneficial alliance between SAM and the College of Business provides an international link and visibility for the College.
We encourage the use of different teaching methodologies rather than using a single approach. This allows more opportunity for student learning. We offer a variety of undergraduate majors to allow our students some flexibility, to have marketable skills, and to pursue more advanced degrees if they so desire.
The Business Advisory Council is composed of prominent individuals in the community who provide a valuable service in linking us with the business community and in ensuring that our College is aware of the needs of the community. Through business alliances, some classes encourage student teams to work under the supervision of a faculty member to study and recommend solutions to business problems in local businesses.
Our college enrollment continues to grow each year. We feel that we have an excellent program to offer with a unique combination of great faculty who care, an excellent environment, and a great location on a beautiful island.
Corpus Christi is a beautiful city located along the shores of the Gulf of Mexico. The Port of Corpus Christi is the sixth largest port in the United States. Our proximity to Mexico, San Antonio, and Houston provide a strategic strength and global link.
On a cost benefit analysis, our college provides our students high returns on their investments.
We hope that you will come to visit our fast-growing campus. You will see why U.S. News and World Report ranks us as the top regional public university in Texas.
Best wishes.
