The College of Business at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi provides students with the best quality business education, valuable business-world engagement opportunities, rewarding international experiences, and attractive career opportunities. The College plans to offer the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree on The Texas A&M University System RELLIS Campus which includes majors in Accounting, Finance, Management, and Marketing.* The College of Business is accredited by AACSB International in both Accounting and Business, a distinction that is held by only one percent of business schools worldwide.
Standout features of the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Business offerings at RELLIS will include small class sizes, elite faculty qualified by ongoing scholarly and practice activities, majors in high-demand professions, summer internships with Texas employers, study abroad programs in Europe and Latin America, and student organization engagement that help develop the values of Respect, Excellence, Leadership, Loyalty, Integrity, and Selfless Service in each student.
The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi BBA program meets the College of Business impact objectives through a commitment to Texas A&M System core values. RELLIS values will be reflected in course offerings and student organization projects. For example, executive lectures focusing on values-based leadership and red flags for ethical wrongdoing and courses focused on ethical principles in business and accounting will emphasize the importance of high standards for personal behavior.
Classroom projects and student organization involvement in volunteer tax preparation services, Hurricane Harvey economic recovery efforts, and entrepreneurship education in schools through Junior Achievement will become examples of how Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi business students engage with the community and further develop and strengthen personal values.
Working with local small businesses and not for profit organizations through a social entrepreneurship course, participation in a business concept competition, and capstone projects emphasizing competitive rivalry will be other hallmarks of the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi business program that will build upon RELLIS values and prepare students for successful careers in business.
All Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi business majors are eligible to participate in a summer internship with a Texas employer or in Querétaro, Mexico through a reciprocal exchange. Students may apply for an internship with second semester junior standing or above and with a grade point average of 2.75 in their upper division work, 9 hours upper division work complete in major, and 12 hours of upper division general course work completed. Accounting majors are required to have 12 hours of upper division course work in accounting complete and an upper level GPA of 3.0 or higher to apply for an internship. Students receive three hours of credit for the experience (business elective) as well as a grade. The course grade will be given by the faculty sponsor who will consider the supervisor evaluation, the oral presentation, and the written report. There will be an end-of-semester evaluation by the supervisor.
The College of Business offers various study abroad opportunities to provide students with a deeper understanding of the global business environment. Semester long study abroad programs are offered by our partner institutions, the University of Applied Sciences in Worms, Germany; University College of Financial Studies (CUNEF) in Madrid, Spain; Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico City, Puebla, Querétaro, Mexico; and Montpellier Business School in Montpellier, France.
The College of Business offers scholarships for current students and transfer students. Scholarships for current students are awarded annually on a competitive basis. To be eligible, students must be admitted to the College of Business at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. Students also must be full-time degree seeking and have a minimum transfer GPA of 3.0. Applications should be submitted here by March. Scholarships for transfer students will be renewed for a second year if the student maintains a GPA of 3.5.
