Dr. Kamara joined the faculty of the College of Business at Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi (TAMU-CC) in the Fall of 2018. Before coming to TAMU-CC, he was a Visiting Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Massachusetts - Boston. Dr. Kamara received his PhD in Economics from Texas Tech University, an MA in Economics from Georgia State University and a BS in Agricultural Economics from the University for Development Studies (UDS) in Ghana. In his research, he uses both conventional and unconventional methods in fiscal and monetary policy analysis. Issues of topical interest to him include the role of financial frictions in the economy, the economic implications of nominal GDP targeting, especially from the point of view of fiscal policy, and the impact of structural factors such as the size of the informal sector, variations in the savings rate and differences in household characteristics including skills and labor productivity. Originally from Ghana, he worked in both government and the private sector before relocating to the United States.
